When you look back at Resident Evil 6 it is really inevitable the way the game turned out. Resident Evil 4 took a more action stance, Resident Evil kicked that up a notch and then Resident Evil 6 here took the series as far as it could go down the action route. It may not be for everyone, but Resident Evil 6 is a better game than people give it credit for.
The Story
By the time Resident Evil 6 came along, Capcom had made the story rather hard to follow and there was that many strains of virus I am not sure we needed yet another one, The C-Virus! I see Resident Evil 6 as a culmination of everything that came before it and to be fair, in that regard the story does succeed in closing things off.
You actually have four different campaigns to play through in Resident Evil 6. They all do connect and there are some fun crossover moments too. Leon, Chris, and Ada all have their own story along with a new character Jake who is the son of Wesker. Like in Resident Evil 5, each character has a supporting character.
The Presentation
I do not care what anyone says, Resident Evil 6 is a great looking game. The different kind of enemies and creatures that the game throws your way are really cool looking. There is a lot of diversity in terms of the enemy designs and I think that does help keep things fresh, especially considering you will be mowing down tons of enemies in this game. Another thing that I like about Resident Evil 6 is the different locations that the story takes you to. The game has some great set pieces and these all happen in very different kinds of locations. I am really impressed with how Capcom managed to make the four different campaigns have a different feel.
The Gameplay
The gameplay is where Resident Evil 6 is either going to win you over or not. To be fair to this game I feel that some people hated this game and do hate it without even playing it. Without a doubt, Resident Evil 6 is all about action. It plays just like a standard 3rd person shooter and to be fair, it does what it does quite well.
Like Resident Evil 5, Resident Evil 6 also has co-op gameplay. You can play with a buddying sitting next to you or with someone online. What I really do like about Resident Evil 6 over 5 is that the AI of your companion is way better than it was in 5. Capcom though does give you the option to play the game just on your own without a side character so they have covered all bases here. That is something they do not get enough credit for when it comes to Resident Evil 6.
There are four campaigns that come together to make Resident Evil 6, but these do not just differ in the story. You will find that each character has their own kind of “feel” to them and this is something I really did like. It makes each chapter feel different from the one before it.
